Deionization Systems

The SpectraPure® Push-to-Test Electronic Purity Monitor indicates when it's time to change the DI cartridge. Also included with the system is a filter wrench.

For water supplies having large amounts of silica, phosphates, CO2, nitrates, or water sources with pH levels below 7, we recommend our MBDI-SIL-2-10. This systems will maximize the removal on contaminants and provide the longest cartridge life.

Note: Deionization cartridge life is greatly reduced when operated on low pH waters or water with high CO2 (carbon dioxide levels. Aeration or de-gassification of RO product water is recommended for such waters for removal of carbon dioxide. The Ultimate eliminates contaminant leakage from exhausted DI cartridges with the addition of secondary back-up cartridges. Two stages of color-indicating SilicaFree Resin Cartridges prevent this leakage. When the first SilicaFree Cartridge changes color upon exhaustion, it is removed and the secondary back-up cartridge is rotated to the first position and a new cartridge replaces the second-stage cartridge.

With this configuration, the possibility of contaminated water due to exhausted cartridges is completely eliminated. With the majority of contaminants now removed from the RO source water, the water is now passed through two additional stages of semi-conductor grade mixed-bed resin cartridges, with an electronic purity monitor between them. These two additional stages of purification polish the water, adjust the pH to neutral, and remove any remaining contaminants, to achieve greater than 18 megohm purity.

A similar scheme of cartridge rotation is utilized in stages 3 and 4, with the addition of an electronic purity monitor which is necessary for non-color indicating semi-conductor grade resins. With this superior configuration, you can count on the best quality water possible, combined with the longest cartridge life available.

The Ultimate is also available as a system optimized for water sources treated with chloramine or ammonia. This model has all the advantages of the standard Ultimate System, plus Stages 3 and 4 have our Chloramine Removal Cartridges, and will provide longer life than the standard mixed-bed cartridges, when used to treat water containing ammonia or chloramine. Any RO/DI System can be converted to The Ultimate, using our D-CI-SIL3-10 system.
